October is one of my favorite months of the year. The Fall weather in Florida is perfect weather for a Family photoshoot on the beach because the weather in Florida is terrific, especially for younger kids!
Let me introduce these two adorable children. The handsome boy is Graham and he is four years old. His younger sister is Everly and she is two years old. Graham warmed right up to me and the idea of having his photograph taken. He is a very sweet and patient young man. His sister, on the other hand, was a bit nervous so we have to warm her up for the shoot a little bit. Once she was comfortable with it, we had a great time.
These kids were such a joy to photograph. As a photographer, I absolutely love children and am happy for every opportunity I get to work with them! I love to capture children acting naturally – they have such big personalities in their little bodies, and I think that too many posed shots make it so that they can’t really show off those personalities!
When these children grow up, they can look back on these photos and reminisce about the young person they once were. How carefree and fun it was to play with their toys on the beach and have someone photographing them all the while.
I always appreciate when parents bring their kid’s favorite toys along in the photoshoot because it makes the kids more comfortable and allows for more personalized shots. Graham and Everly’s mom, Carli, bought some toys that we were able to use as props and they made for some adorable photographs!
I am a natural light photographer in Tampa, which means timing is everything. The fall season in Florida, the sun sets around 7:30, so I always make sure to schedule photoshoots for at least one hour before sunset. That way, we can get a wide variety of photos from when the sun is shining bright to when it falls below the horizon. This timing the light is a dream for a photographer.
During the photoshoot with Graham and Everly, the lighting just got more perfect as time went on. The sky turned into a beautiful sunset that was as glorious as the children’s faces!
