I had so much fun documenting the Lee family on one of my absolute favorite beaches on the Florida coast! I met this adventurous family through my boyfriend. He has worked with the dad, David, for over five years and has gotten to know him and his wife, Gail, really well. They just moved to Clearwater, Florida, from California, so I was very excited to finally meet up with them for a family session near Clearwater Beach.
The Lees are the kindest, most easygoing people. They have two handsome sons that made the session even more fun. DJ, age 10, was a little quieter than his little brother Eli, age 7. Once we got down by the water, however, they were both fully out of their shells and having a great time with mom and dad. I love to see the way families laugh and play together. This crew went out and held hands in the water and hugged in the Sand Key Beach sand.
We lucked out on a very nice day. Florida’s weather can be so unpredictable, even the forecasts can be little-to-no help! I had to reschedule once already due to rain, so when we got to Sand Key Beach and found nothing but clear skies, we were especially excited. The ocean air, light breeze, and gorgeous sunset all worked in our favor. The family wore perfect beach outfits. All three boys wore natural-colored shorts and polos that were great for walking into the waves. Mom wore a stunning white, flowy dress with lace sleeves that was so flattering in the breeze.
One thing that I appreciate about this family is how willing they were to try new things. They let me choose the location and did not shy away from any of my poses or ideas. Gail told me that family photos are priceless to them. Family photos preserve time in a frame to be forever cherished and remembered. The Lees hadn’t had any professional pictures taken in a while, so these portraits are very special to them as they start a new chapter here in Clearwater.
