Chris and Kara are the definition of college sweethearts. They met and became friends through Greek life at Northwood University, and soon their friendship grew into a relationship. Kara says that they became inseparable. His friends became her friends, and her friends became his friends. They shared their entire college experience together. They became sweethearts of each other’s sorority and fraternity, traveled for spring break together, spent summers together, and even studied abroad together.
After graduating college, they went on a five-year anniversary trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. After spending the day exploring the park, listening to their favorite music, and enjoying the breathtaking views, Chris took them to a gorgeous viewing point and surprised Kara by getting down on one knee.
I was so excited when this adventurous couple reached out to me for an engagement session on Anna Maria Island Beach. This was my first time at Anna Maria, and we lucked out with perfect Florida weather. This location was meaningful for Kara and Chris, because this is near where they will be getting married. I can see why they chose this area! The beach is so beautiful, and the water was blue and crystal clear. There is a curve on the beach where you can see the gorgeous sunset and get a great angle for photos.
We lucked out that Kara and Chris were able to fly in from Michigan for this Florida beach engagement session. Their flight was delayed the day before they arrived, and the weather had been dropping to 45 degrees! That may not sound too cold, but when you are shooting on the beach, that temperature feels like it is cut in half. Luckily, the couple was able to catch a later flight, and the weather was warm and wonderful for our session. I was so glad to get to know these two a little bit before their wedding. Chris was a little shy at first, but was such a champ when it came to posing for photos. Kara is an absolute model. I don’t think I could take a bad photo of her if I tried! They are such a sweet couple, and I cannot wait for their big day.
