Today on the blog I am going to share my 3 best tips on what to wear to your beach engagement photo outfits so you look and feel your best.
As your engagement photo shoot is approaching, you should be feeling so excited to have one of the most important photoshoots of your life.
This is one photoshoot you will never forget and will give you some of your favorite photos you will ever have for the rest of your life. So let’s make sure you look your best for such a momentous photoshoot.
Dress It Up
You’ll only take engagements once (give or take), so this is your chance to go all out! Remember that there’s no such thing as “too dressed up” when it comes to your portrait session, so don’t be afraid to have some fun with your outfits.
Dresses are always gorgeous on the beach because they flow in the wind, making you look like a goddess. And a well-dressed man on a beach is always a winning look.
However, you should avoid jumpsuits! I know, I love them too, but for movement on the beach I have found they aren’t very flattering and we all want you to look your best.
Fabric Choice
The beach is always windy, wet, and full of salty air and these three beach elements can bring out the worst in certain types of fabric. I usually do not recommend silk or satin fabric for your dress at a beach photoshoot.
If they get wet, those spots are incredibly visible and distracting. Plus, the salty air + wind can make those fabrics cling unflattering to you or be too revealing of your body. I promise, just avoid these fabrics and everyone will be happy!

Multiple Outfits
I always recommend that my clients bring a few outfits to a beach photoshoot for two reasons. Primarily, I like to photograph you in a variety of outfits because, well, that gives us a variety of photos, which is always what we want for a shoot. I suggest my clients bring outfits that are very different from each other.
For example, plan on your first outfit being more formal with a dress and a button-down with slacks, and then, in contrast, bring a casual pair of jeans and a nice blouse for your second outfit.
Varied outfits help us get a great range of photos. Plus, the poses will vary depending on what you are wearing, so multiple outfits always help give our photoshoot some diversity.
Dresses from Revolve
My second other reason for multiple outfits at the beach is cautionary because there is a (very) good chance you will get wet and sandy. If that happens, I promise you will want to change for both your comfort and appearance.
Beach photoshoots never disappoint and the result is always gorgeous, especially when in the right outfit with the person you love most by your side. So follow these simple and helpful tips to make sure you have the perfect memories to look back on from your beach engagement photoshoot.
